My proposal "Pop Art Recycled" was chosen for the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commmision's Artist@Work artist in residency project for fall 2006.

In this project I worked with around 100 third and fourth grade students from Seawell Elementary school. Each student employed chasing and repousse techniques to transform a metal panel, recycled from an aluminum soda (pop) can, into a relief sculpture. The panels illustrate concepts in environmental stewardship and nature. The final collaborative piece of art is a patchwork quilt of these student panels, panels with the signatures of the student artists, and plastic panels made from recycled milk containers.

The work will have a permanent home in the school's cafeteria after exhibition in the community. pop art close up 1
